Between 1973 and 1990 I held various roles in the retail advertising department of the Montgomery Ward Corporate Headquarters in Chicago. I learned how functional teams worked daily to support more than 400 retail stores in 40 states, while my advertising team worked to draw customers to those stores. All of these roles were needed. The Tutor/Mentor Connection (1993-present) and Tutor/Mentor Institute, LLC (2011-present) are based on this idea.
Essays in this section are roles leaders in business, religion, health care, universities and politics might take to support the growth of volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs in all high poverty areas.
